Park Open For 2019 Season

Shriners RV Park officially opened for the 2019 camping season on May 15th.

The weather was not cooperative at all, it was quite cool and breezy.

However, that didn’t stop some of our seasonal patrons to make their journey here to the park.

They were very busy getting their trailers ready for the summer season.

On behalf of Park Management and The Shriners Park Board we wish everyone a very enjoyable summer and stay safe.

 

Park Closed For Season

On September 30th, 2018 the park will be closed for the season.   It as been a wonderful few months.  The season was  a success to say the least.  Thanks to our seasonal patrons, its been a pleasure having everyone of you here at our park  and hopefully see you all back on May 15th, 2019 for the next camping season.

Also, Thanks to all transients that visited our park, I hope your stay with us was a good one and that you will return in the summer of 2019.

A Visit With Shriners From British Columbia

On September 10th, 2018, A bus tour of Nobles and their ladies from British Columbia visited the park. Upon their arrival they were greeted by our Park Shriners as well as management.  After their arrival they were served a hot beverage with a sweet treat.  They were very impressed with the park as to the size and was amazed at our Recreation Centre.  Park Treasurer George Joseph Spoke to the group and gave them a brief history of the park and role it has played  in raising money for the Patient Transportation Fund.

When time for them to depart they were so happy that they decided to make the stop at our park.  We thank them for visiting and as they were leaving on the bus they were waving good-bye.

They  toured around the Eastport peninsula and as the pass by our park on their way back out of town the bus honked its horn many times.  This gesture was assurance that they really enjoyed their stop at our park.

Thanks to McCarthy’s tour bus for taking such great care of our Nobles and their ladies.

 

 

Labour Day Weekend Festivities

Well its hard to believe that the season is coming to an end here at the park.  Labour Day Weekend was a very busy time  its the official visit of the Shriners Divan.  They arrived on August 31st at the park and a meet and greet was held at the parks Recreation Centre.  Saturday September 1st, Wayne Hounsell a patron of our park done a bike ride from Gander to the Shriners Park to raise money for the Patient Transportation Fund, It was a huge success and many thanks to Wayne for doing the Ride For The Children. while we were waiting the arrival of Wayne from his bike ride there were games of Shuffleboard and Ring toss to which I could tell everyone was having such a great time from the cheers and laughter.  Once Wayne arrived  we served the hotdogs for lunch.

Saturday night there was a benefit concert at the Beaches Heritage that was planned over the past few months by Walt Pinsent and is wife Norma.  Walt is a shriner and For the past several years Walt and Norma dedicate alot of their time organizing and searching for performers to  play for the concert. They done A tremendous job and would like to thank them for their donation to the PTF.  the concert consisted of  performers that were local and those from out of town.  It was a very enjoyable evening

Sunday September 2nd, Gospel music was held at the Recreation Centre, there were many performers there as well and a fair number in attendance including members of the Divan.  After Gospel music the Divan departed the park but the festivities did not end.

Lunch time on Sunday a patron of the park had a BBQ and invited many people along.  i could here the laugther and singing form the office it was such a good feeling to see people enjoying themselves

Once that get together disbursed then they went to another site for a birthday party where there was also food and singing and even a visit from Santa.

The Park Board and staff would like to thank the patrons of the park for donations to the PTF and for their support throughout the summer, without you none of this would be possible.

Fundraiser Concert

August 11th at the Recreation Centre a Fundraiser concert was held by the Willis Brothers Newman and Lorne.  They played some old time country, gospel and Newfoundland music.  They had the people attending the concert tapping their feet and singing along.   Their Sister Juanita Button joined them on stage for a few tunes as well,  Juanita is a Seasonal Resident of the Park.  They played for about two hours and everyone just had the most wonderful time as their singing and little jokes was well received by those in attendance.  The Park Board and Park Management would like to extend very sincere thank-you to Newman, Lorne and Juanita.  Funds raised from the concert will go to the Patient Transportation Fund.

AUGUST FUN DAYS

 

On August 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th the park held Fun Days.

Thursday August 2nd there was a Shuffleboard Tournament. The weather was hot but they played to a fun filled day of Shuffleboard, I could hear the laughter and the cheers from the office so that was an indication that everyone was having a great time.  Thursday night we had the regular card night that our card lovers really look forward to.

Friday was another beautiful day, people gathered just outside the Recreation Centre to play Ring Toss,  Once again you could hear the cheers and laughter.  After the Ring Toss was completed hotdogs and beverages was served at the Centre. A dart tournament was also held  Friday afternoon and those who gathered to throw a few darts had a great time.  Friday night was our regularly scheduled music night and the place was well packed to listen to some country and Newfie music.

Saturday afternoon a fun Bingo was held at the Centre.   Saturday evening a Potluck supper was held followed by a dance.

Sunday morning  was our regular gospel music and there was many in attendance.

Overall it was a very fun filled few days, and we would like to thank all that participated and thank you to the people that  helped in anyway to organize these events.

Canada Day 2018

An event was held at the Recreation Centre On July 1st to Celebrate Canada’s Birthday.  The weather was cool but that did not prevent us for parading around the park waving our Canadian Flags to show how proud we are to be Canadian.

We then all met at the recreation Centre where refreshments was served.

Thanks to all that came out to celebrate this great country.

 

 

Fundraiser Concert By Three Decades June 30th

On June 30th a Fundraiser concert was held at the Parks Recreation Centre.  Three Decades played to a full Rec Centre.  The member of Three Decades are Lloyd Gosse, Kimberly Bailey-Tucker and Chess March.

Lloyd Gosse and Kimberly Bailey-Tucker are seasonal patrons of our park and Chess March Is the owner of a Music Store in Clarenville.  They entertained the crowd with many country classics and gospel songs.

The concert was about two hours.   The crowd was so pleased by their performance that they wanted more, and they gladly obliged by singing a couple more tunes.

The Shriners Park Board as well as the Staff  would like to thank Three Decades for stepping up and hosting a fundraising concert to help contribute to the PTF (Patient Transportation Fund).

Maybe next year they will be back again for another concert, and we would be more than happy to have them back to perform

 

 

Annual Visit Gander Shrine Club

The Gander Shrine Club had their annual visit on June 23rd, 2018 at our park.

It was a gorgeous day as they walked around the park to view some renovations that has been done since their visit last year, and to see the progress of  other renovations that is still underway.

They then met at the Recreation Centre where they were served a Lobster Dinner.  Noble Everett Green welcome the club to the park on Behalf of The Park Board.

Park President Kevin Butt also thank the Gander shrine Club for their visit and spoke to the effect about the importance of fellowship and through everything Shriners stand for and that’s the Children.
